The higher up on a page you go, the more likely someone is going to click on your link to visit your website and open it.

By using the right tools, you can ensure that you make the most out of your sitemap, and you can make sure that it is properly implemented by the major search engines.
The main goal of an XML sitemap is to help search engines crawl your pages and determine which of your pages should be displayed when a user performs a query on a popular engine like Google. Search engines can identify which webpages need to be crawled first based on the contents that they provide information about. They will determine the relevance of your webpages based on the text that they provide. This text is the sitemap. It can also contain meta tags and image content.
An important aspect of the design process is ensuring that the sitemap is designed in such a way as to increase usability for both humans and search engines. If you want your site to be heavily promoted and visited, then ensure that you submit your sitemap to Bing, Yahoo and Google.
